I know I’m not the only one who struggles with this bureaucratic nonsense.

I was always confused by this. They’d ask why I didn’t have a doctor’s note, and I would be genuinely puzzled as to why I would have been to the doctor.

I never had an attendance policy when I taught, and I really dislike them for precisely this reason. Well, among other reasons.

There is an attendance measure: it’s called your grade. You’re an adult, you’re paying to go to college. If you can skip ever day except quiz and test days and pass? Fine. (…It has never happened.) You’re only shorting yourself the experience you’ve paid for. I’m a Classicist, not a babysitter.
