Okay, guys, can we please talk about how this is the first time that we see Marc Antony in Rome and how it says everything you need to know about him in one second?  And how he’s just sitting there all casually while Titus Pullo is being whipped for insubordination?  Because it’s absolutely perfect - it speaks to Antony’s rank, bravado, class in both senses of the word and how he views the world in general.  Everything is there for his enjoyment and he is just going to watch and occasionally participate to make it more interesting.   He’s also just so not bothered by the ongoing beating, it’s just a normal occurrence for him and why shouldn’t he oversee an every day punishment while enjoying food?  It’s not just him in one image, it’s a quick introduction into Roman values and world view and it’s on screen for perhaps all of five seconds, but it is still such a powerful and simple way to get across almost everything you need to about Antony without him saying a single word.
